Thyroid Surgery in Antalya
Thyroid surgery removes part or all of the thyroid gland. Choice between lobectomy and total thyroidectomy depends on diagnosis, ultrasound, biopsy and whether disease is bilateral.
Modern thyroid surgery is performed through a short neck incision, with intraoperative nerve monitoring and careful parathyroid preservation. Most patients go home within 24 hours.
Main Indications
Suspicious or malignant biopsy, large goiter with pressure, retrosternal goiter, uncontrolled toxic goiter and selected indeterminate nodules are the main indications.
Surgical Technique
A short transverse incision in a natural neck crease, dissection in the avascular plane, nerve monitoring of the recurrent laryngeal nerve and meticulous parathyroid identification are the standard of modern thyroid surgery.
