- Thyroidectomy & Parathyroid Surgery

Not every thyroid nodule requires surgery. The decision is based on nodule size, ultrasound characteristics (TIRADS), biopsy result (Bethesda), growth rate, compressive symptoms, hormonal status and cancer suspicion. Surgery is considered in large or compressive goiter, suspicious biopsy, thyroid cancer and selected toxic goiter cases.
Areas of Surgical Evaluation
Thyroid Nodule
Most thyroid nodules are benign; suspicious ones are evaluated with ultrasound and biopsy.
Goiter
Enlargement of the thyroid gland that may cause compression, breathing or swallowing difficulty.
Multinodular Goiter
Multiple nodules in the thyroid; follow-up or surgery is decided per nodule features.
Toxic Goiter
Hyperfunctioning goiter — medication, radioactive iodine or surgery may be planned with endocrinology.
Thyroid Biopsy
Fine needle aspiration biopsy reported by the Bethesda system, interpreted alongside ultrasound.
Thyroid Surgery
Lobectomy or total thyroidectomy planned according to disease type and extent.
Thyroid Cancer Surgery
Patient-specific surgical plan; central or lateral neck dissection may be added when indicated.
Parathyroid Surgery
Surgical evaluation for parathyroid adenoma and primary hyperparathyroidism.
Postoperative Care
Follow-up of voice, calcium, wound healing and thyroid hormone replacement.
